Indications 

Listed in Dosage. 

 

Dosage 

Hypertension Initially 25 mg bd-tds. May be increased after 1-2 wk to 50 mg bd-tds. Max: 150 mg daily. Exceptional cases: max 450 mg daily. Heart failure Initially 6.25-12.5 mg. Maintenance 25-100 mg tds. Max 150 mg daily. Exceptional cases: max 450 mg daily. MI Initially 6.25 mg, increased to 37.5 mg daily in divided doses, then 75 mg & finally 150 mg daily. Diabetic nephropathy 75-100 mg daily in divided doses.

 

ADMINISTRATION:

Should be taken on an empty stomach (Take on an empty stomach 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.). 

 

Contraindication 

Pregnancy. 

 

Precautions 

Renal disease or impairment, severe renal artery stenosis, heart failure (initiate under close medical supervision), collagen vascular disease, patients undergoing major surgery or during anaesth, lactation, childn. 

 

Adverse Reactions 

Cough, bronchospasm, rash w/ pruritus, proteinuria, hyperkalaemia, neutropenia, fever, eosinophilia, hypotension, tachycardia, hypogeusia, paresthesias, serum sickness, lymphadenopathy. 

 

Drug Interaction 

K-sparing diuretics, other antihypertensives, NSAIDs, lithium.
