Agents Affecting Bone Metabolism 

 

Indications  

Treatment & prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. 

 

Dosage    

1 tab daily. 

 

Contraindication  

Women w/ child bearing potential. Active or past history of venous thromboembolic events including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism & retinal vein thrombosis. Hepatic impairment including cholestasis. Severe renal impairment. Unexplained uterine bleeding. Endometrial or breast cancer. 

 

Precautions  

Co-administration w/ systemic oestrogens is not recommended. 

 

Adverse Reactions

Hot flushes, leg cramps, peripheral oedema, venous thromboembolic events. 

 

Drug Interaction

Should not be co-administered w/ cholestyramine.
