Indications  

Listed in Dosage. 

 

Dosage  

Prevention of MI, stroke or CV death in patients w/ increased CV risk Initially 2.5 mg once daily. Usual maintenance dose is 10 mg daily. May be doubled after 1 wk &, after 3 wk, to 10 mg. Prevention of MI, stroke or CV death in diabetic patients Initially 1.25 mg once daily. Double dose at 2-3 wk intervals, depending on patient response & tolerance. Hypertension Initially 2.5 mg once daily. Double dose at 2-3 wk intervals to max of 10 mg/day. Usual maintenance dose: 2.5-5 mg. CHF Initially 1.25 mg once daily. Double dose at 1-2 wk intervals to max 10 mg/day. Daily doses ≥ (greater than or equal to) 2.5 mg may be taken as a single dose or in 2 divided doses. Post MI Initially 2.5 mg bd, titrated up to a max of 10 mg daily.

 

ADMINISTRATION:

May be taken with or without food. 

 

Contraindication  

Hereditary angioneurotic oedema, haemodynamically relevant stenosis of the renal artery, bilateral or unilateral in the single kidney, hypotension or labile circulatory condition. Pregnancy & lactation. 

 

Precautions  

Renal or hepatic impairment, hyperstimulated renin-angiotensin system. 

 

Adverse Reactions  

Nausea, dizziness & headache, dry cough. Hypersensitivity reactions including pruritus, rash & fever. 

 

Drug Interaction  

Allopurinol, immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, procainamide, cytostatics, & other substances that may alter the blood picture; insulin & sulfonylurea derivatives; antihypertensive agents or other substances w/ antihypertensive potential; K salts, K-retaining diuretics or heparin; lithium, NSAIDs; alcohol.
