Oral Contraceptives

Prevention of pregnancy.

1 tab daily for 21 days starting on Day 1 of cycle.

May be taken with or without food.

Thromboembolism, DVT; cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease; breast carcinoma; estrogen-dependent neoplasia. Pregnancy. Thrombogenic val vulvulopathies, thrombogenic rhythm disorders, diabetes w/ vascular involvement, uncontrolled hypertension.

Age, smoking, obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, MI, thromboembolic disorders, ocular lesions, visual disturbances, retinal vascular lesions; carcinoma of the breast, cervix, vag & liver; hepatic tumors, gallbladder disease, bleeding irregularities; depression, fluid retention; headache; lactation.

Vaginitis including candidiasis, depression, libido changes, headache including migraines, nervousness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, acne, breakthrough bleeding/spotting, breast pain, tenderness, enlargement, secretion, dysmenorrhea, change in menstrual flow, changes in cervical erosion & secretion, amenorrhea, oedema, wt changes.

Rifampin, penicillins, tetracyclines, rifabutin, barbiturates, primidone, phenylbutazone, phenytoin, dexamethasone, griseofulvin, topiramate, some protease inhibitors, modafinil, ritonavir, atorvastatin, CYP450 3A4 inhibitors.
